What are some REPUTABLE charities for both people and animals that I can donate money to?

I am also scared that some places might not be as authentic as the claim to be, and the money might not go where it’s actually supposed to. Well, I don’t claim donating is bad. For sure, it’s one of good things to do! But there are so many charities asking for donations and once one has subscribed they start asking for more! So, what I’d like to ask you is whether you donate, and in what form.
Some of them really have good causes but are too persistent in asking!
