Is World Vision one of the more reputable charities to sponsor children in poorer countries?

AM79 asked:

I’ve considered sponsoring a less fortunate child, and want to ensure that the charity I select gives much of the proceeds to the child. Sometimes you hear stories about charities that send only a small percentage of what you donate to the child. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience or advice in this area. Thanks!

look at the church of jesus christ of latter day saints (LDS church) humanitarian program. they help with disasters and for the improvement of impoverished areas year round. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the cause.

I think it is, but I’d wait until someone gave you a more definitive answer. Check out UNICEF. They’re a great organization for kids, and a lot of other charities run through them.
